From a small idea in Sydney, NS to a national franchise network — over 30 years of empowering Canadian entrepreneurs.
1994
Ledgers is conceptualized by a team of Professional Accountants in Sydney NS when the need for consistent, professional and affordable bookkeeping services is recognized. After a preliminary investigation, it was realized that the small business market struggled to afford the services available from the 'Big Firms', and the skills of the local 'bookkeeper' were inadequate. The idea of high-quality, affordable bookkeeping services is born.
1997
After 2 years of development, the first Ledgers franchise is awarded to Terry Bachmann in Moncton NB. Terry was instrumental in developing the marketing models, policies and procedures; some we still utilize today.
2000
In November of 2000, Ledgers is acquired by the current owner and moved to Newmarket Ontario, where they still reside.
2003
Ledgers expands its franchise network across Canada, establishing locations in multiple provinces and growing its reputation for affordable, professional bookkeeping and tax services.
2008
Ledgers continues to grow through the economic downturn, demonstrating the resilience of the franchise model and the essential nature of bookkeeping and tax services for small businesses.
2012
Ledgers introduces new technology platforms to streamline franchise operations, improving efficiency and service delivery across the network.
2015
Ledgers launches its cloud-based technology suite, partnering with leading software providers to bring cutting-edge tools to franchise owners and their clients.
2018
Ledgers Canada becomes a member of the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA), reinforcing its commitment to ethical franchising and industry best practices.
2020
Ledgers adapts rapidly to the pandemic environment, leveraging its cloud-based infrastructure to continue serving clients remotely and supporting franchise owners through unprecedented challenges.
2022
Ledgers expands its Central Processing System, enabling franchise owners to deliver more services with greater efficiency and consistency across the network.
2023
Ledgers Canada celebrates continued growth with new franchise locations opening across the country, bringing professional accounting and tax services to more Canadian communities.
2024
Ledgers Canada marks 30 years of franchising excellence, celebrating three decades of empowering Canadian entrepreneurs with a proven business model in accounting, bookkeeping and tax services.
2025
We revised our logo to demonstrate our Proud Canadian Heritage.
2025 — Central Processing Moving to New Location
The growth of our Central Processing System has been incredible! We are now in the process of building an entire new facility to accommodate our growth. This facility will also be used for hands-on new franchise and employee training.
2026
Ledgers Canada continues its national expansion with new locations opening in Gatineau QC, Edmonton AB, and more communities across the country. The new Central Processing facility opens, providing state-of-the-art hands-on training for new franchise owners and employees.
